Assaults on Political Leaders: Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Kejriwal, and Others Who Were Slapped

There have been several instances of political figures being physically assaulted recently. Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a woman CISF constable during a security check at Chandigarh airport on June 6. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was assaulted by a man while campaigning for AAP in New Delhi, and he has previously had ink, oil, and eggs thrown at him. Former JNU student leader and Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar was assaulted while campaigning, with attackers pretending to garland him before slapping him. Former Union Minister Sharad Yadav was slapped by a local transporter at a public function in Delhi in 2011, while former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was slapped by a youth in 2014 due to frustration over the job situation in the state. Additionally, Sharad Pawar was slapped by a youth at an NDMC center in Delhi, with the attacker reportedly angry over the minister’s inability to control price rises. These incidents highlight the security breaches and assaults on prominent personalities, showing that physical violence against politicians and leaders is unfortunately quite common.
