Former PM Liz Truss loses seat in general election 2024



Former prime minister Liz Truss has lost her Norfolk South West seat to Labour in one of the biggest shocks of election night. She lost out by just 630 votes to Terry Jermy.

He overturned the 26,195 majority which Ms Truss secured in 2019 – a notional 27.85 per cent swing from Conservative to Labour.

Ms Truss appeared on stage without a Conservative rosette. Stony faced as the result was read in full, she chose not to speak following the result and quickly walked off the stage.

The result means Rishi Sunak is the only Prime Minister from the last 14 years whose seat remains blue.
