The purported washing of a temple in Bihar’s Saharsa district after Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar’s visit has caused a controversy on Thursday, with the Congress asking if supporters of non-BJP parties “would be treated as untouchables” and the BJP saying the incident showed a “rejection” of Kumar’s politics.
The incident took place at the Goddess Durga temple at Bangaon village, which Kumar visited during his ongoing Palayan Roko, Naukri Do yatra. Kumar had delivered an address from the temple premises.
